Do you know that the atmosphere present in the environment is the protective layer for humans, plants, animals and all the living creatures on earth? But the over exploitation of the resources and increase of the Industrial activities are responsible for pollution, this security shield is getting damaged day by day. As a result the temperature of the earth is rising. The air-water changes and ill effects of pollution are clearly visible. Water pollution control act in 1974, Air pollution control act in 1981 and environment protection Act in 1986 were few steps taken by the govt. of India to control the environmental changes but due to few loop holes in these Act/ rules and lack in their enforcement, the desired results were not visible and we are tailing back in the conservation of the environment. The matter has reached to the courts also.

It is necessary to contain the green house gases which harm the environment, majority of them consist of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorine, CFC etc. among them the quantity of carbon dioxide is high because the use of traditional sources of energy is more which generates carbon dioxide. The increasing quantity of these hazardous gases in the atmosphere is resulting in increasing temperature of the earth and loss to the ozone layer. The sun rays are absorbed by the earth due to which it gets warm however because of many environmental processes, this heat is transferred to the space. The green house gases stops this heat to get transferred to space which results in the increasing temperature of earth. Ozone layer is also badly affected by these gases. Ozone layer is present above the atmosphere which absorbe the harmful ultra violet rays of sun and protects the living creatures on earth. |
